"It's time for some star power!"

― Scarlet’s Mirror Mantra Scarlet Discovers True Strength

Scarlet is one of the twelve main characters in the Star Darlings animated and book series. She is the main point of view for the fifth Star Darlings book Scarlet Discovers True Strength. She first appears in the episode Star Charmed and is voiced by Sarah-Nicole Robles. Scarlet's roommate at Starling Academy is Leona and her first Wisher on Wishworld is Arden.

She was dismissed from the Star Darlings at the end of Libby and the Class Election when Lady Stella discovered that Scarlet "wasn't" supposed to be a Star Darling. She then had to move out of her and Leona's shared dorm room and was replaced by Ophelia in Leona's Unlucky Mission and Scarlet Discovers True Strength as both Leona's roommate and a Star Darling. It wasn't until her book that she was confirmed to be a true Star Darling when Ophelia's wish orb came to her and transformed into a Punkypow, Scarlet's Wish Blossom. As of Cassie Comes Through, she and Leona are roommates once more.

Story[]

History[]

Scarlet went from being home-schooled while on tour with her parents to be with girls her age every day. It hasn't been easy. As an only child on the road with her family most of the year, Scarlet had to learn how to entertain herself. To her classmates, Scarlet seems to be in a completely different orbit. And that's just fine with her.

Scarlet's parents, Andromedus and Melodia, are super-stellar classical musicians. For as long as Scarlet can remember, they have played in the planet's most star-studded concert halls. They were thrilled when she showed an interest in music. However, they wanted her to take up the starflooty, a delicate woodwind instrument. Instead, Scarlet's rebellious nature led her to the drums!

Scarlet's wish-granting potential is off the charts. If only she could visit Wishworld and grant her wish - to find a place where she feels comfortable letting her inner light shine through.

Appearance[]

Scarlet has short magenta hair with streaks of black in it and fuchsia eyes. She wears clothing consisting of black and pink with a sassy and noticeable style; a magenta hoodie with a white shirt underneath and a  dark jacket on top, a cerise and dark magenta ruffled tutu secured with a sparkly belt and pink and black striped socks. Like all Starlings, her skin is slightly sparkly and bears a light complexion. Her Wish Pendant is a row of star-shaped buckles on each of her boots, which do more than secure them to her feet. They also alert her that she's close to her Wisher! After being welcomed back into the Star Darlings, Lady Stella gave her a new pair of boots to replace the ones she had to give back.

On Wishworld, Scarlet's bright fuchsia hair turns black, leaving a streak of fuchsia as if she dyed it, hers eyes turn Green. Her skin loses its sparkle, her freckles are more noticeable, and her outfit transforms from a glowing getup to rockin' clothes! A magenta shirt with short ruffled sleeves and long sleeves patterned with stars everywhere, a grey skirt with pink ruffles at the end and dark starry socks to match her boots!

Personality[]

From her classmates' point of view, Scarlet seems to be in a completely different orbit, which is just fine with her. She's confident, strong, and independent. Scarlet has an interest in music. She is passionate about it, making her the perfect drummer for the Star Darlings Band! She is also an enchanting Starling, as she's brave, intense and curious.

Of course, Scarlet knows she needs to work on opening up to the other girls, but she's been a loner her whole life. She's not a warm, fuzzy, touchy-feely kind of girl. Because of this, Scarlet often alienates others by keeping to herself and being secretive. She is also stubborn, arrogant and jealous at times.

Scarlet's Room[]

She designed her space so she can skateboard down its walls and play music. Good thing her board doesn't leave scuff marks! She could do tricks like 350 and Ollie. Her drum set is up on a small platform. But no worries about the noise problem; if Leona needs to study, Scarlet can flick on the drum system's self-muting switch and play silent beats all day and night.

Scarlet's staircase leads to a small nook, where she can go for some frequently needed alone time.

Powers and Abilities[]

Starling Physiology[]

Being a Starling, Scarlet possesses all of the natural traits that the species has.

  • Wish Energy Manipulation - Scarlet harnesses positive wish energy for most of her abilities.
  • Energy Blasts - As displayed in The Power of Twelve, wish energy can be used to fire streams, bursts, orbs, and waves of offensive power against opponents.
  • Force Fields - Demonstrated in the above special, Scarlet can conjure shields as defense.
  • Extended Lifespan - In Scarlet Discovers True Strength, it’s confirmed that Starlings can live for thousands of years, as Mira’s grandmother is over thousands of years old. Before that, in Leona's Unlucky Mission it was hinted that a few decades wasn’t too long in comparison to Starling lifespans. However, they do not have eternal youth, as Professor Elara Ursa is stated to be among one of the oldest wish granters and has clearly aged in a similar manner to a wishling elder.
  • Disease Immunity - In Scarlet Discovers True Strength, it states that the wish energy surrounding Starlings keeps them from contracting illnesses.
  • Superhuman Knowledge - In Leona's Unlucky Mission, Starlings are shown to be nigh-perfect at mathematics from birth. Astra's Mixed-Up Mission also implies that Starlings are the same way towards towards literature and similar subjects such as language and grammar.
  • Gravity Manipulation - Scarlet displays this power in The Power Of Twelve.

Wish Mission Signature Powers[]

The Star Darlings each gain a power that is meant to assist with carrying out their wish missions. It is unknown if this is exclusive to them, or if they only work on Wishworld, as Adora uses hers to heal Vega in the The Power of Twelve.

  • Gravitational pull - Scarlet can unlock doors by mentally manipulating the locks and can also make heavy things feel light. Unlike the rest of the Star Darlings, Scarlet's power is only mentioned in Stealing Starlight rather than in her book.

Trivia[]

  • Scarlet is based after the eighth zodiac sign, Scorpio.
    • This means that Tessa, who is based after Taurus is her opposite astrologically.
  • Scarlet's black streaks in her hair are not natural.
    • She added them to her hair to annoy her parents.
  • She hates garble greens.
  • She is ticklish as revealed in Wish-House Rocked.
  • She doesn't make deals.
  • Unlike the other Star Darlings, Scarlet doesn't fear bitbats. In fact, she is actually fond of them.
  • Her family has not come to visit her since she enrolled in Starling Academy.
  • She is allergic to Glowfurs, because her skin is itchy when a Glowfur is close to her.
