"You are the missing piece of the puzzle."

― Vega’s Mirror Mantra Vega and the Fashion Disaster

Vega is one of the twelve main characters in the Star Darlings animated and book series. She is the main point of view for the fourth Star Darlings book Vega and the Fashion Disaster. She first appears in the episode Star Charmed and is voiced by Stephanie Sheh. Vega's roommate at Starling Academy is Piper and her first Wisher on Wishworld is Ella.

Story[]

History[]

Vega is a bright, serious student who focuses on learning everything she can. She loves solving puzzles―especially the hedge maze at Starling Academy. Practical and reliable, Vega works diligently as any student at Starling Academy, possibly harder than she needs to.

However, Vega grew up with only her mother, Virginia, in a small apartment in the centre of a dull factory town. She realized that her ticket to a different kind of life was focusing on school and aiming for the stars. After that, Vega's grades skyrocketed to all straight A's.

When she's not reading up on her grades, she displays a passion for dancing and plays the bass guitar in the Star Darlings' band! She also loves crunching through fallen leaves on a chilly day in the Time of Letting Go.

Appearance[]

Vega has shiny blue hair in a bob with straight bangs and bright blue eyes. She wears a cluster of star hair clips in her hair. Like all Starlings, she has slightly sparkly skin and a light complexion. Her clothes consist of a long dark blue trench coat, a blue high-low sequin dress, grey metallic leggings with glowing stars and double-strap high-top sneakers to complete her look. Vega's belt buckle is a perfectly shaped star with a wide border. On Starland, its glow reminds Vega to do her best. When she's on a Wish Mission, the aura helps her pinpoint her Wisher.

On Wishworld, Vega's blue hair becomes dark brown with just a shock of colour; her eyes turn brown, her skin loses sparkle, and her clothes look more like girls' outfits on Wishworld; a tech-styled dress with white lace ruffled sleeves, light grey leggings and a pair of dark blue boots.

Personality[]

Vega is a bright student who focuses on learning everything she can. She loves brain-teasers and is a great puzzle solver as a result. Practical and reliable, Vega is guaranteed to be scholastic when studying. She is dependable and the right Starling to ask for help with school work!

Despite being a stellar student, Vega can be narrow-minded and believes all the answers are in books. While she is a bit of a perfectionist, she is also opinionated and needs to learn when to relax and take time out for a glimmer of fun. She must learn to use her instincts and intuition and not always rely on a plan when wish granting.

Vega's Room[]

Vega room

Vega's room is lush and plush and boasts a spot for everything that's important to her. She's divided the space with thick area rugs in midnight blue flecked with twinkling mini stars.

The bed has an overhanging headboard that adds a touch of both comfort and coziness. It's the perfect spot for reading, thinking, and getting the best sleep possible. Steps lead to a stage that allows her to rock out by herself or with the band. But the ceiling is the room's most striking feature. It has a huge glass skylight that allows for hours of stargazing. It's her portal to the worlds beyond.

Powers and Abilities[]

Starling Physiology[]

Being a Starling, Vega possesses all of the natural traits that the species has.

  • Wish Energy Manipulation - Vega harnesses positive wish energy for most of her abilities.
  • Energy Blasts - As displayed in The Power of Twelve, wish energy can be used to fire streams, bursts, orbs, and waves of offensive power against opponents.
  • Force Fields - Demonstrated in the above special, Vega can conjure shields as defense.
  • Extended Lifespan - In Scarlet Discovers True Strength, it’s confirmed that Starlings can live for thousands of years, as Mira’s grandmother is over thousands of years old. Before that, in Leona's Unlucky Mission it was hinted that a few decades wasn’t too long in comparison to Starling lifespans. However, they do not have eternal youth, as Professor Elara Ursa is stated to be among one of the oldest wish granters and has clearly aged in a similar manner to a wishling elder.
  • Disease Immunity - In Scarlet Discovers True Strength, it states that the wish energy surrounding Starlings keeps them from contracting illnesses.
  • Superhuman Knowledge - In Leona's Unlucky Mission, Starlings are shown to be nigh-perfect at mathematics from birth. Astra's Mixed-Up Mission also implies that Starlings are the same way towards towards literature and similar subjects such as language and grammar.
  • Levi-writing - In Star Charmed, Vega can be seen taking notes, using her wish energy to lift a pen and write them down.
  • Technology Master - Being able to manipulate technology using her brain, Vega is the ultimate hacker and can get whatever information she needs.

Wish Mission Signature Powers[]

The Star Darlings each gain a power that is meant to assist with carrying out their wish missions. It is unknown if this is exclusive to them, or if they only work on Wishworld, as Adora uses hers to heal Vega in the The Power of Twelve.

  • Mind Control - In Vega and the Fashion Disaster, she’s able to control others mentally without needing to say what she wants them to do out loud.
